Harvard Political Union (HPU)

The Harvard Political Union (HPU) is the center for debate on campus. The oldest collegiate debating society in the nation, HPU brings together students from diverse viewpoints and backgrounds in order to facilitate dynamic discussions on all things politics. Our aim is to cultivate a culture of respectful, factual, and productive civic discourse on campus. We are grounded by our weekly Cambridge Debates, which invite all members to share opinions on critical questions about politics, international relations, and even the Harvard experience. This semester, we will begin launching our program of Union Debates, bringing in world-class speakers to engage in the highest quality debates with students, enriching knowledge and ideas. We are a welcoming community of politically-oriented students excited to change minds, share knowledge, and have some fun in the process!
