Autonomous Vehicles & Home Care: The 2017 Policy Program
Each semester, IOP undergraduate students join the Policy Program to combine finding policy solutions to issues they are passionate about and building skills around researching, writing, and delivering policy recommendations to elected officials. This semester, groups presented reports on topics from equitable higher education costs to at-home health care to autonomous vehicles. Affording Higher Education
This group examined the current state of higher education affordability in Massachusetts and offered a number of policy recommendations to increase financial accessibility for students in public higher education. Some of these recommendations would benefit all students, while others are specifically intended to support food-insecure or homeless students as well as students who have recently aged out of the foster care system.
The Economics of Autonomous Vehicles
The Economic Policy Program, chaired by Chris Kuang '20 and David Hernandez '20, presented a commissioned report to State Senator Eric Lesser on the economic and policy implications of autonomous vehicles in Massachusetts.
Home Care in the Commonwealth
In a joint commission from three Massachusetts State Senators, including the Senate President, the Health Policy group investigated Minnesota Alternative Care’s development, performance, and applicability to Massachusetts Home Care.
