Jack Flanigan
Jack Flanigan is a first-year student at Harvard College. While attending high school in New York City, Jack developed a strong interest in and commitment to public service, and began volunteering on the front lines of New York City's response to the wave of migrants sent north on buses by border states. In his senior year, he volunteered with several grassroots organizations that worked to connect recently arrived migrants with housing services, free meals, donated clothing, and legal aid. Over the summer, Jack participated in Harvard's SPARK Summer Service program, which allowed him to develop his skills as an English-Spanish interpreter and deepen his involvement in delivering legal aid to migrants.
Jack is excited to continue developing his understanding of the immigration system with the Immigration Intervention Project at Sanctuary for Families, and looks forward to broadening his horizons while working with the Courtroom Advocates Program. At Harvard, Jack has taken classes in government, history, Spanish, and economics, and plans to concentrate in Social Studies. In his spare time, he reads avidly, sings in the Harvard Glee Club, and enjoys taking reflective walks.
