Want to be part of Election 2016's Super Tuesday by participating in the Massachusetts Presidential Primary on March 1st? There’s still time to register to vote! If you register before Wednesday, February 10, you will be eligible to vote in the state primary.
As a student at Harvard College and a member of the greater Cambridge community, you have the option to register in the state of Massachusetts and partake in this historic election.* If you’re a student looking to register to vote in Massachusetts for the primary, please review the instructions below:
-
If you are a Massachusetts resident with a state issued identification card, you may register to vote online at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/.
Additionally, a printable PDF version of the Massachusetts Voter Registration Form can be accessed online at http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/eleifv/howreg.htm. Any forms completed by hand should be brought to the Institute of Politics, located at 79 JFK Street. Forms will be accepted at the front desk until 4:00pm on February 9th, after which they will be delivered to the Cambridge Election Commission. -
If you are NOT a resident of Massachusetts, you are required to complete a voter registration form by hand. Without a state-issued identification card, the state cannot verify your signature digitally and thereby requires that you manually fill out the form. A printable PDF version of the Massachusetts Voter Registration Form can be accessed online at http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/eleifv/howreg.htm.
Additionally, voter application forms will available at the Institute of Politics, located at 79 JFK Street. Please see Kerri Collins at the front desk to request and complete a registration form.
When filling out the form, a few qualifications apply for out-of-state students. As a Harvard enrollee without permanent residency in the state of Massachusetts, you must list your residential address as your freshman dorm name and room number or the address of your upperclassman house (e.g. Wigglesworth X-11 or 56 Linnaean Street, Pforzheimer House). Your mailing address should be listed as your Harvard Yard Mail Center address or your house mailbox.
Completed forms will be accepted at the front desk of the IOP until 4:00pm on February 9th, after which they will be delivered to the Cambridge Election Commission.
*Note that registering to vote in Cambridge will nullify your existing out-of-state registration.
Join the IOP at the New Hampshire Primary Watch Party on Tuesday, February 9 at 6:30pm! RSVP here.
