Interns will be responsible for a large variety of work, including but not limited to fundraising, communications, donor engagement and outreach, social media, minor paralegal work, field days, grassroots organizing.

Overview
Cottonwood Environmental Law Center is a 501(c)3 Non-profit organization that uses law and grassroots organizing to protect the people, forests, waters and wildlife of the American West, and have fun doing it. We are small but determined and do not give in to special interests. In the 15 years since our founding, we have protected over 41 rivers and streams from industrial polluters, stopped the construction of a $500 million dollar coal rail road that would have taken ranchers land in South West Montana, protected over 12 million acres of critical lynx habitat from logging, and have help luxury developers accountable for polluting the Gallatin River. We are scrappy, rouble rousing, and do the work that no one else wants to take on. Cottonwood is an extremely unique organization and where others talk the talk, we walk it,. We have successfully organized and passed citizen ballot initiatives to lower single use plastic pollution, provide affordable housing and conserve water.

Program Details
Low Supervision: Intern will have access to their supervisor but will largely work independently on projects and tasks.
We have a small office in downtown Bozeman, MT. It is often bustling with our small staff, interns, law clerks and community members. We have a casual dress code, somewhat loose schedules, and have a large interest in staff health and wellbeing. Cottonwood works with a lot of community members and other organizations/entities so there is a lot of opportunity for networking.
This Director's Internship Host will potentially host additional undergraduate interns outside of the Director's Internship Program.
Cottonwood is looking for individuals that are self starters, motivated and are comfortable with getting outside their comfort zone. We prefer candidate's who have good writing and research skills, as well as individuals who can create social media content.
