Summer in Washington Program

The Summer in Washington (SIW) program organizes political and public-service focused events in DC over the summer months and is often referred to as the IOP’s “third semester.” It is an opportunity for students to gain exposure to the broad range of careers and experiences in politics and public service – from meeting with elected officials to visiting polling firms and think tanks, museums, and much more – and to create a community for Harvard undergraduates around politics and public service. Open to all Harvard Undergraduates living and/or working in Washington DC, the program also provides opportunities to interact with Harvard alumni, explore Washington, DC and connect with peers.

Rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and the Class of 2019 are all welcome to participate, and there is no application necessary to participate in the program.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out this form

"Through Summer in Washington, students are able to expand their political knowledge, explore politics' intersection with other fields --all the while exploring the nation's capital and making lasting friendships. Whether you are a politics pro or someone just getting acclimated to intern life in DC, SIW has you covered with amazing opportunities in the DC area. If you’re in the city for the whole summer or just stopping by, be sure to sign up and check out your friendly neighborhood Summer in Washington programming."  Christabel Narh, 2018 Summer in Washington Coordinator
