IOP Communications Team

The Institute of Politics seeks a summer research assistant for the John F. Kennedy New Frontier Awards and the IOP communications team. The intern will split their time between the New Frontier Awards and communications tasks.

The awards were created by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation and the IOP to honor Americans under the age of 40 who are changing their communities and the country with their commitment to public service.  The awards are presented annually to two exceptional individuals whose contributions as full-time public servants in elective office, community service, or advocacy demonstrate the impact and the value of public service in the spirit of John F. Kennedy.

Using research and news monitoring skills, social media, and telephone research, the research intern will identify and compile information about candidates for the New Frontier Awards for Elective Public Service. The researcher will write narrative biographies of nominees, and will also generate and execute ideas for identifying new award nominees via other means.

Concurrently, the research intern will help compile a list of candidates and contact information for men and women running for mayor in larger American cities for the Institute’s biennial Seminar on Transition and Leadership for Newly Elected Mayors.
