Institute of Politics, Director of Polling
The IOP seeks a Research Assistant to work with the Director of Polling on a project exploring the future of polling. The position will include both primary and secondary research. The successful candidate will research academic, political, and media pollsters and will conduct interviews on the future of polling.
Begun in 2000, the IOP’s Public Opinion Project conducts a biannual poll examining the political opinions and civic engagement of young Americans ages 18 to 29. Since it began, the Harvard Public Opinion Project has provided the most comprehensive look at the political opinions, voting trends, and views on public service held by young Americans. The research conducted by this Research Assistant will build upon the IOP’s strong history of polling.
Skills: Applicants should be self-starters able to take initiative and prioritize tasks, with strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. Passion and commitment to President John F. Kennedy’s ideals of public service, civil rights, and civic engagement, as well as a demonstrated interest in polling, is helpful.
*Please note: this position will be paid hourly, between 20 and 35 hours/week, with the exact schedule and hours flexible, to be determined by the IOP and the successful candidate.
