Tanya Devani is a rising junior at Harvard University from Birmingham, Alabama. She is pursuing a concentration in Government with a secondary in Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality. On campus, Tanya is involved as a community organizer for the Harvard College Democrats, is the tutoring chair for the IOP's Citizenship Tutoring Program, is an associate editor for the Harvard International Review, and a news writer for The Crimson. She also serves as Northeastern Regional Coordinator for Girl Up, a United Nations campaign that seeks to raise awareness and funds for marginalized, adolescent girls in the developing world. Last summer, Tanya cultivated her passion for public service as an intern for Congressman Robert B. Aderholt's office in Washington, D.C. This summer, she is excited to further her interest in gender equality as an intern for GenderAvenger, an organization working to ensure women's voices are always represented in the public dialogue.
