Olivia Phillips is a rising junior in Kirkland House from South Attleboro, Massachusetts, studying applied mathematics with an application field in linguistics. She sings alto in Under Construction, Harvard’s Christian a cappella group, and is the treasurer for Harvard Right to Life. This summer, Olivia is looking forward to interning at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and learning about the inner workings of how the government prepares for and responds to crises. Olivia has been interested in studying natural disasters since elementary school, when she performed a research project on earthquakes and spent hours on the FEMA kids’ website to do her research. She is excited to spend this summer working at the intersection of applied math and public service while interning with the organization that spurred one of her greatest interests.
