2015

Lily Velona is a rising sophomore in Adams house, with a prospective concentration in Government and secondary in Classics.  Hailing from Rye, NY, Lily worked for her State Senator to address the rampant discrimination and harassment faced by LGBT homeless youth, culminating in a bill which has been introduced to the NY State Senate and Assembly.  At Harvard, she is the co-director of Advocacy for the youth homeless shelter Y2Y: Harvard Square, and a member of the Small Claims Advisory Service, the college Democrats, and the Student Labor Action Movement, as well as a bartender at the Cambridge Queen’s Head pub.  This summer, she will be working at the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs where she is excited to help promote a dialogue among stakeholders from local government to advocacy groups to the federal government on how best to address Americans’ health needs.
