Kathleen H. Pierre, a rising senior in Leverett House, concentrating in History and Literature (Post-colonialism), was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. This summer she will be interning at PRS Legislative Research in New Delhi, an organization devoted to making the legislative process more inclusive, participatory, and transparent. Kathleen is passionate about the intersection between law, culture and society; and devotes much of her time to investigating the ways in which laws either shape social attitudes towards various causes, or are shaped by them in return. On campus, Kathleen is involved in the Institute of Politics, a member of both the Community Action Committee and National Campaign for Political and Civic Engagement. She is also a member of the Small-Claims Advisory Service. She has been an assistant at the Widener Library Circulation Desk since February 2010, and has worked for Governor Deval Patrick's Constituent Services. An aspiring lawyer, Kathleen anticipates a vigorous and challenging summer learning and devising strategies to bring public opinions and concerns to the forefront of legislative debates.PRS Legislative Research, New Delhi, India
