Kara Lessin

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Washington DC
2014

Kara Lessin is a rising junior in Eliot House concentrating in Social Studies and Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality. Her interests include questions of political representation and recognition, the policies and ethics of the applications of Ivory Tower theory onto real-world situations, and sociopolitically conservative women, which she is currently researching through MAPS, a program under Harvard’s Center for American Political Studies. Outside of academia, she is involved in Harvard’s mental health community and enjoys searching for ever-more secret tea shops. Originally from Englewood, New Jersey, Kara spent her high school years at school in Exeter, New Hampshire; she has been fascinated for years with the charged politics of the Granite State, and is honored to be working for Senator Shaheen this summer.
