Florence Chen is a rising sophomore from Granger, Indiana who will intern for Senator Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire. As a prospective Earth and Planetary Sciences concentrator, she hopes to develop a background in science and to apply this perspective to a career in government. Though she will live in Quincy House next year, she has been lucky to call the Institute of Politics another home at Harvard and to serve as Chair of its Special Events Committee. Florence also conducts atmosphere chemistry research, competes on the Mock Trial team, dances in the Asian American Dance Troupe, participates in Council on Business and the Environment, serves as an Obama for America Organizing Fellow, and is in the process of starting a new student group: Sense and Sustainability. She is very excited to observe the legislative process, to learn about the policy issues upon which the Senator focuses, and to spend a summer in Washington with many of her friends.
