Blake McGhghy

Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Washington DC
2015

Blake McGhghy is a rising junior in Dunster House concentrating in Social Studies from Keokuk, Iowa. On campus, he is involved with the Student Labor Action Movement, which works alongside Harvard employees on and off-campus to ensure fair wages and benefits, the right to a fair process, and protection from all forms of discrimination at work. For the past year, he worked as a regional organizer for United Students Against Sweatshops, and helped to coordinate a nationwide, student-led campaign promoting "education justice." At Harvard, he has also been involved with the Harvard Political Review and the First-Year Urban Program. This summer, Blake is thrilled to intern at SEIU's government relations department in D.C., where he will put his academic interests and activist experience into action to help advance economic justice at the federal level. He will work on policy research and support state-level campaigns leading up to the 2016 election in order to advance SEIU's nationwide goals to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
