2021 Intern Reflection:

I've done a lot of social media, content creation, and strategic planning for Civic Alliance. My day-to-day really varies based on what projects they need me to plug in on - so far I've helped with the 2021 gubernatorial races, redistricting memorandums, and creating content for Civic Alliance's social channels and member newsletters.

2020 Intern Reflection:

I've been working on digital communications for Civic Alliance, including sending out our weekly member newsletters, with updates on election news and member spotlights, reaching out to companies to join the Civic Alliance, and setting things up such as our Civic Mentorship Program, in which companies that have experience building and implementing civic initiatives at their companies mentor those who are just getting started. We also recently had a virtual member summit, so I spent a great deal of time planning, organizing, and send out reminders around that.

Something I've found really valuable during this experience is setting up 1-on-1 time to talk with the members on my team. Without setting an agenda or anything, just chatting about their work, their experiences, and just getting to know them better. They all have had really valuable advice for me, and it's been interesting to learn more about what they do. And just generally, it's been fun to be able to meet new people, even in quarantine. I would advise anyone to take this approach. It's been great!
