The Harvard Votes Challenge (HVC) aims to increase voter registration, engagement, and turnout at Harvard University and beyond. Through institutional reforms and student-driven, community-based creative organizing, HVC seeks to create permanent infrastructure for civic engagement across Harvard University and cultivate a culture of civic engagement among all Harvard students. In partnership with students and staff at the IOP and around the University, the HVC team creates and leads an innovative campaign to mobilize voters while also building campaign and leadership skills. A passionate and welcoming community of motivated students, HVC aspires to generate civic energy beyond the gates of Harvard by engaging with peer institutions and high schools in the Boston area and the higher-education community nation-wide. HVC’s ultimate mission is to reach 100% voter registration and participation among eligible students by lowering barriers to voting, by offering resources and assistance, and by advocating for nonpartisan voting reform.
