After nearly three decades in federal service as a U.S. congressman and senator, Richard Burr is widely known as one of the foremost government authorities in health care and life sciences policy. Since his election to Congress in 1994 and through his tenure as ranking member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP), Senator Burr (R-NC) has led many of the most transformative government initiatives in the health care and life sciences fields.
Lanhee Chen ’99, AM '04, JD ’07, PhD ’09 is an educator and policy expert who served as policy director for Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s 2012 bid for the presidency. He is currently a Fellow at the Hoover Institution and a Partner at the Brunswick Group. Previously, Chen served as a senior appointee at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services during the George W. Bush Administration, in private law practice at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, and has advised numerous other presidential, gubernatorial, and congressional campaigns. Chen was a candidate for California State Controller in 2022.
