The 2022 Stone Lecture in Economic Inequality with Joseph Stiglitz

The James M. and Cathleen D. Stone Lecture in Economic Inequality will be delivered by economist and 2001 recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences Joseph Stiglitz on March 28 at 6:00 PM ET in the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum at the Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School. Professor Stiglitz will appear in conversation with economist David Autor, current visiting professor at Harvard Kennedy School.
Joseph E. Stiglitz is an American economist and a professor at Columbia University. A recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences (2001) and the John Bates Clark Medal (1979), he is a former senior vice president and chief economist of the World Bank and a former member and chairman of the (US president's) Council of Economic Advisers. Known for his pioneering work on asymmetric information, Stiglitz's work focuses on income distribution, risk, corporate governance, public policy, macroeconomics and globalization.
David Autor (PhD HKS ‘99) is currently Visiting Professor at Harvard Kennedy School. He also is Ford Professor of Economics at MIT and Co-Director of the NBER Labor Studies Program. His scholarship explores the labor-market impacts of technological change and globalization on job polarization, skill demands, earnings levels and inequality, and electoral outcomes.

The Institute of Politics follows all HKS COVID health and safety protocols, including vaccination, testing, and quarantine guidelines. HKS buildings including the Forum are currently closed to people without a Harvard ID and attendance will be limited to the 250-person room capacity. RSVPs are required for in-person attendance. Effective Monday, March 14, masks will no longer be required at HKS events, but anyone who wishes to wear a mask should feel free to do so.
