Ron Kirk is the former Mayor of Dallas, Texas and also the former Democratic candidate for the Senate in 2002. Mr. Kirk is the first African-American Mayor of Dallas and of any other major Texas city, and brings over twenty years of diverse legislative experience on local, state, and federal levels. Kirk, a lawyer, is a fourth-generation Texan raised in Austin.
