Negah Angha
Negah Angha is an associate vice president with The Cohen Group and brings nearly two decades of experience advising the U.S. Department of State and National Security Council leadership on matters of policy development and strategic communication. She is also a nonresident senior fellow with the Scowcroft Middle East Security Initiative at the Atlantic Council’s Middle East Programs.
Prior to joining The Cohen Group, in 2021 Ms. Angha was the director for multilateral initiatives at the National Security Council, where she led and oversaw the management of the Summit for Democracy — a Biden Administration flagship summit. Subsequently, also in the Biden Administration in 2022, she was the director for partnerships and global engagement, where she engaged external stakeholders from the business, labor, think-tank, academic, and diaspora communities on key policy changes and decisions.
Before working at the White House, Ms. Angha served in a variety of foreign policy and program management roles at the U.S. State Department. She represented the United States on complex bilateral and multilateral negotiations; advised on issues related to the Group of Seven, United Nations Security Council, peacekeeping, sanctions, counterterrorism, and anti-corruption; and coordinated international donor and assistance efforts in the Middle East and North Africa and in South Asia.
Ms. Angha is the recipient of numerous State Department Superior and Meritorious Honor awards. She was recognized in the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Diversity in National Security Network (DINSN) 2022 U.S. National Security and Foreign Affairs Leadership List. She holds a Master of Arts in international peace and conflict resolution and an MBA from American University. She is also a Ph.D. candidate at King’s College London. Outside of government, she has taught at King’s College London and the UK Defense Academy Joint Services Command and Staff College. She is fluent in French and Farsi and has basic conversational skills in Italian, Spanish, and Arabic.
