John W. Mack has served as President of the Los Angeles Urban League since August 1969 and is a member of the LEARN Working Group, and organization of key business, civic, minority and education leaders committed to major education reform for Los Angeles public school students. Mr. Mack began his career with the Urban League in Flint, Michigan in 1964 and was appointed Executive Director in 1965. Previously, Mr. Mack was a leader in the 1960 student civil rights movement in Atlanta and was a Co-Founder and Vice Chairperson of the Committee on the Appeal for Human Rights.
