Genaro Arriagada Herrera served as vice president of the National Christian Democratic Party from 1980 to 1989 in Chile. He also served as the Director of the Opposition Campaign to oppose Pinochet in the plebiscite vote of October 5, 1988. Arriagada Herrera was the principal advisor tot he presidential campaign of Patricio Aylwin and was the president of Cooperative Radio, the most important and prominent station in Chile, from 1979 to 1989. He was been an invited professor to various North American universities (Duke, Columbia and Georgetown) and speaks regularly at the Council of the Americas, Council of Foreign Relations and other agencies interested in western hemisphere issues.
