Dan Lungren was California's unsuccessful Republican nominee for governor in 1997. Recognized as the country's top Attorney General in 1996 by his colleagues in the National Association of Attorneys Generals, he served California in that capacity for eight years. Mr. Lungren first ran for Congress in 1976, was elected two years later and served five terms. Mr. Lungren joined with Newt Gingrich in establishing the Conservative Opportunity Society, a forerunner of the Contract with America. Currently, Mr. Lungren hosts a national talk show on the Catholic Family Radio Network.
