Congressman Joseph J. Heck

Dr. Heck is President of RedRock Government Relations, overseeing a team that provides insightful and innovative strategic guidance to help clients achieve their public policy goals through the pursuit of legislation, advocacy, and regulatory results.

Prior to joining RedRock, Dr. Heck served in the US House of Representatives and the Nevada State Senate. In Congress his committee assignments included the Armed Services Committee, where he chaired the subcommittee on Military Personnel; the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, chairing the subcommittee on Tactical and Technical Intelligence; and the Committee on Education and the Workforce. A strong proponent of public service, Dr. Heck currently serves as the Chairman of the National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service, a congressionally-chartered commission to evaluate the Selective Service System, need for a draft, and ways to increase the propensity to service in order to strengthen American democracy.

An active member of the United States Army Reserve, Dr. Heck holds the rank of Brigadier General and is currently assigned as the Deputy Joint Staff Surgeon, Office of the Chairman – The Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is a graduate of the U.S. Army War College with a Master of Strategic Studies.
