About UNIDO:
UNIDO is the specialized agency of the UN tasked with promoting inclusive and sustainable industrial development. Further to this, UNIDO also has three thematic priorities set forth by the Director-General, Mr. Gerd Müller, namely ending hunger, sustainable supply chains, and climate action. UNIDO’s mandate is anchored within SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) of the 2030 Agenda. It is headquartered in Vienna – one of the four global UN headquarters – and has a global presence through various field offices. We support Member States through technical cooperation, policy advice, normative services, and convening. Currently, we are implementing almost 700 projects in various areas from clean energy, food security, digitalization, industrial decarbonization, skills development, and much more.

The UNIDO New York Liaison Office functions as a sort of ‘embassy’ of UNIDO to the UN Headquarters. We represent UNIDO and support intergovernmental and inter-agency processes in New York, and advocate for the importance of sustainable industrialization on the global development agenda, and addressing today’s challenges. We maintain and foster relationships with Member States, UN partners, and other stakeholders in New York. We promote UNIDO’s services, raise awareness of flagship programs and activities in support of Member States. For example, we bring together different stakeholders through high-level events on the margins of major global fora, such as the UN General Assembly.
