This session will be a deep dive into the importance of the White House Chief of Staff, in general and specifically with respect to political transitions of power. We will discuss the multiplicity of requirements for the role, how it has become more difficult over time, and how recent Chiefs have approached their task. I will ask the students to rate the extent to which they believe that recent Chiefs have been successful (or otherwise) .
