Study Group with Byron York: The Road to Trump: The Storm Arrives
Description
From nearly the beginning, the 2016 Republican primary contest moved on two tracks. On one track, it was a conventional GOP contest with conventional GOP candidates — Ted Cruz, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, plus a host of conventional GOP also-rans. And on the other track was Donald Trump. First, many politicos and journalists ignored Trump, or treated him like a novelty candidate. But it soon became clear to anyone who looked — and not many did — that Trump was not only a serious candidate but was exposing a deep divide between the populist and establishment wings of the Republican Party.
