Study Group with Brittany Shepherd: Tune In — Mastering the Art of Listening in Journalism

Description
REGISTRATION CLOSED
Join (and meet!) Brittany Shepherd, a seasoned political reporter for ABC News, in her first study group where she will discuss the art of listening as the foundation of powerful political journalism. Brittany’s career spans nearly a decade, from covering the White House, interviewing presidential candidates (and those who eagerly vie to take their jobs), and hosting her web show while zeroing in on how culture and new media intersect with it all.
In this study session, you will dive deep into the core of political reporting—listening.
With a hands-on, simulation component of the study group, Brittany will teach you how to practice engaging with citizens, gather their insights, and turn those interactions into impactful reporting. Brittany will also share a little of her professional history and budget some time for Q&A. This study group will equip you with the tools to become a more effective journalist by mastering the art of listening—because the best political stories are often found in the voices of the people you least expect.
AUDIENCE: These conversations are open to members of the Harvard community. Please RSVP with a valid Harvard email address.
OFF-THE-RECORD: In keeping with our long tradition at the IOP to ensure honest and candid discussions of politics, all IOP study groups are off-the-record.
