Pathways to Public Service with Prerna Bhat
Description
Please join us in welcoming Harvard College alumni, Prerna Bhat, back to campus! Prerna will speak about her experience as working on climate policy as a Congressional staffer in an off-the-record career conversation over dinner!
About Prerna Bhat:
Prerna Bhat is an Austin, Texas native who, as an evolutionary biologist and wildlife conservationist by training, entered the political world to help elect and support leaders who actually believe in climate change and the need for equitable environmental justice solutions. She currently serves as the Climate and Environment Legislative Assistant for Senator Cory Booker. Prior to her current role, Prerna spent two years as the Climate, Energy, and Environmental Policy Legislative Aide for Senator Elizabeth Warren. She previously interned at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, and served as Deputy AAPI Coalitions Director for the Democratic Party of Georgia’s Coordinated Campaign for the 2021 Senate Runoff elections, as AAPI Constituency Organizer for the Texas Democratic Party / Biden Coordinated Campaign in Texas in 2020, and on the Warren for President campaign in Iowa, working to build coalitions with local and national stakeholders and increase political engagement of underrepresented communities.
Prerna received her AB in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology at Harvard College in 2016, and spent a year as a Harvard Postgraduate Traveling Fellow investigating the intersection of sustainable cacao and vanilla production with community-led wildlife conservation in Madagascar and Malaysia. She subsequently received her Master of Environmental Management degree in 2019 from the Yale School of the Environment, where she studied conservation planning as well as climate communication. She is committed to building strong coalitions and fighting hard for a better future for our country and our planet.
