Drawing on his experience during some of Ireland’s most consequential democratic changes, including the Marriage Equality referendum and the liberalization of Ireland’s abortion laws, former Taoiseach of Ireland Leo Varadkar will reflect on what it means to pursue human rights commitments when the stakes are real and the pressures are constant. Varadkar will be joined by Jessica Stern, former U.S. Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons, who led U.S. diplomatic efforts to protect LGBTQI+ communities worldwide.
