Professors Ezra F. Vogel and Tony Saich discuss Deng Xiaoping, the former leader of the Communist Party of China and the subject of Professor Vogel’s latest book, “Deng Xiaoping and the Transformation of China.” After short presentations, they discuss the wide-ranging views of Deng during his rule and now; as well as the differences between Chinese and American politics during the opening of China to the West.
