Carlo, a Global Policy Advisor – Early Recovery and Programme Coherence at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Crisis Bureau, will speak to students about his current position with the UNDP Crisis Bureau and other moments in his career.

About Carlo Ruiz Giraldo

Carlo Ruiz Giraldo is an international development professional and policy advisor with a career advancing inclusive economic growth, sustainable development, and innovation in crisis and post-crisis settings. Currently serving as a Global Policy Advisor at UNDP’s Crisis Bureau, Carlo leads policy guidance and coherence on livelihoods, economic recovery, and private sector development, stabilization and mine action, supporting countries in crafting strategies that foster resilience and integration. Carlo’s academic foundation includes a Master of Arts in Socio-Environmental Studies, a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration, and a Doctorate in Jurisprudence with a specialization in Economic Law. His work integrates digital solutions to promote inclusive recovery across diverse development contexts.

He has advised organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), International IDEA, and the Organization of American States on constitutional reform, environmental management, and governance. As a former faculty member at FLACSO Ecuador and SEK International University, Carlo taught public policy, environmental law, and energy governance.

Fluent in English, Spanish, and French, he brings a global perspective and cultural fluency to his work, forging partnerships and driving transformative change in international development.
