Our esteemed panelistas will share their stories about their own paths to and within state & city government, their insights on the importance of Latinx leadership during the Coronavirus pandemic, and their ideas on how to inspire and involve more Latinas to serve in a variety of roles in state & city government. HKS Latinx Caucus co-chair Cassandra Duchan Saucedo will moderate, and there will also be audience Q&A.

We'll be discussing: Resolved: The Harvard Undergraduate Council should be abolished. HPU member and UC Representative Ethan Johnstone is up against Aditya Dhar and Andrew Liang, this past semester's UC President runners-up, who ran on an "abolish the UC" platform.

While the resolution specifically addresses the UC, we hope that it leads to some constructive debate on collegiate student government in general.

Lessons in Leadership: A Conversation with Cornell Brooks
Visiting Professor of Social Ethics, Law & Justice, BU School of Theology and BU School of Law and former President & CEO, NAACP

The Harvard Political Review and the Harvard Political Union welcome Salena Zito, Washington Examiner reporter and contributor to CNN and the New York Post, to share her experiences reporting from small town America during the 2016 presidential election.

This will also serve as an information session for "Main Street and Back Roads of America: A Journalism Workshop," a HPR-HPU initiative that will give students the unique opportunity to experience main streets and back roads across New England and the Rust Belt with Salena Zito. This immersion experience will allow students to understand communities and the issues, concerns, and political perspectives that shape their worldviews, as well as an opportunity to publish writing for the Washington Examiner and the New York Post.

Dinner will be served. 

A day-long conference on gerrymandering, redistricting, and the fight for American democracy hosted by the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation and co-sponsored by the Institute of Politics.
