  4. Harvard Political Union's Weekly Undergraduate Debate: Should the UC be Abolished?

    Wednesday April 1 - 8:00pm

We'll be discussing: Resolved: The Harvard Undergraduate Council should be abolished. HPU member and UC Representative Ethan Johnstone is up against Aditya Dhar and Andrew Liang, this past semester's UC President runners-up, who ran on an "abolish the UC" platform.

While the resolution specifically addresses the UC, we hope that it leads to some constructive debate on collegiate student government in general.

It's going to be a great evening, and it all starts at 8pm ET on Wednesday, April 1st.

  5. Undergraduate Debate

    Wednesday March 25 - 8:00pm

Join the Harvard Political Union for a debate on Harvard’s grading policies in the time of the Coronavirus. In order to bring people together in these turbulent times, weekly debates like the one this Wednesday are open to everyone in the IOP community.

Should all classes be pass/fail? Should we adopt a “double A” grading scale? Does receiving letter grades matter to you? Come debate!

Founded in 1832, the Harvard Political Union (HPU) is America’s oldest collegiate debate union. It hosts weekly debates, Pizza & Politics, Director’s Dinners, campus debates, and conferences. Most importantly, the HPU is home to a politically vibrant community of undergraduates who believe that the inclusion of all viewpoints strengthens our conversations. Does that mean the partisan divide has anything to do with Harvard’s grading? Come find out! In order to bring people together in these turbulent times, weekly debates like the one this Wednesday are open to everyone in the IOP community.
