Study Group with Prime Minister Stefan Löfven: Democracy versus Authoritarianism

President Biden has framed these times as a competition between democracy and authoritarianism. What makes authoritarianism attractive and why is democracy sometimes so difficult? Broadly, it’s clear that there is growing competition, with a Russia-China alliance versus the United States and the West. How does another huge block of nations in Africa and the Middle East factor into this?
