China: Friend or Foe?

This session will look at the use of China as a foil and a bogeyman in American political campaigns, and attempt to "truth squad" some of the claims made. Is China a rival, and enemy or a partner to the United States? Is China really a currency manipulator out to steal U.S. jobs, hack into American computers and pilfer patents and copyrighted material? And how do we move beyond the "China bashing" rhetoric to forge a working relationship?
