Week 7: From Upstate to Capitol Hill

Elected in 2012, Congress member Sean Patrick Maloney is the first LGBT Congress member from NYS. His election was ground breaking because NY lagged far behind other states in electing LGBT people to Congress and because he was elected from a district outside of NY City. 

Sean's also ran unsuccessfully as an openly LGBT candidate unsuccessfully for NYS Attorney General.
