This session is intended to demonstrate the value of meaningful entrepreneurial/business experience in elected office and public service. We will have a panel discussion with four individuals who chose to serve after being very successful in the private sector. Kelt Kindick, Tim Murphy and Ellen Herzfelder applied "smart business solutions" to government while serving in the Cabinet of a business experienced Governor. The panel will also include a successful entrepreneur - Gerald Chertavian - who founded Year Up and applies fundamental business concepts to the very mission of social entrepreneurship. We will explore lessons learned and show examples of creative policies that were implemented based on their entrepreneurial and business experience. They will demonstrate that someone can do well, and do good too.
