Tarina Ahuja

My name is Tarina Ahuja, I am a member of the Class of 2024 from Northern Virginia just outside of DC! I am deeply dedicated to fostering empathy in politics and governance as we center and amplify the experiences of our fellow human beings.  My interest in politics stems back to when I was 10 years old when there was a shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin. During this difficult time, I saw the power of community mobilization and resilience in the face of deep adversity. In my role as the IOP Co-Chair of CIVICS, I hope to continue strengthening students’ understanding our democratic institutions while ensuring they can harness the power they possess as change-makers no matter how hold they are. Working with the IOP and greater Harvard community, I want to build the civic strength and power of young people by expanding our outreach and making our curriculum even more accessible and inclusive to students of all backgrounds. Outside of CIVICS, I am an enthusiastic member of FSG, WIL, a member of the Undergraduate Council, and co-founder and president of a youth-led policy think tank called the Greater Good Initiative. Otherwise, you can find me hiking, watching a little too much Grey’s Anatomy, doing Bhangra (a dance originating from Punjab), making bad puns, or cheering on Chicago sports teams!
