My name is Marian Bothner and I am a junior in Lowell House studying Philosophy and Government. Originally from Berlin, Germany, I joined the HPR and the IOP as a first-year student interested in politics and journalism. After two years of experience as a writer and editor, I am now honored to serve as President of the Harvard Political Review, the nation’s preeminent undergraduate journal of politics. I will be working with the rest of the HPR masthead to expand our growing digital audience and ensure that we continue to print timely and incisive analysis of political issues and public policy — from examining the implications of the pandemic or spotlighting stories of overlooked environmental harms to offering nuanced cultural criticism. Over the next year, I am especially excited to invest more in our writers and their development as researchers, journalists, podcasters and politicos. Outside of the HPR, I am involved with volunteer tutoring, Harvard’s EJS Center for Ethics, the Honor Council, and the Harvard international community. In my free time, I enjoy writing film reviews and “exploring” digital museum exhibits.
