Lorenzo Ruiz
My name is Lorenzo Ruiz, and I'm a sophomore in Winthrop House studying Government. This year, I'm honored to serve as the Communications Director for the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School. It's my mission to uplift student voices and accomplishments, foster excitement and engagement across Harvard, and steward the distinct character and purpose of the IOP.
As Harvard's home for the instruction of good governance and engaged citizenship, the IOP has a unique responsibility to cast a broad net, to connect with students from all backgrounds, and to share widely the achievements and causes of our membership. By meeting students where they're at — on social media, in print, or in person — I'm here to make that vision for the IOP a reality.
I previously worked on communications teams for Harvard Votes Challenge and the Fellows and Study Groups program, both as a digital content lead program-wide and a Fellow liaison. I began my IOP journey as a member of the Campaigns and Advocacy Program, and have remained a member ever since. Outside the IOP, I'm a longtime editor for the Crimson's Editorial Board, where I pen a column on the politics of higher education and university administration. Most recently, I worked on digital communications for Ways and Means Committee Democrats, and consult on Gen-Z media and marketing strategy for state and national advocacy marketing campaigns.
In my spare time, you'll find me drinking Diet Coke, traveling with friends, and running. I hope you see you around the IOP!
