My name is Lily Richman, and I’m a first-year in Wigglesworth Hall. I’m from Santa Monica, California, and I plan to study Social Studies. I’m passionate about service and social justice, and I couldn’t be more excited to help lead voter education and civic engagement efforts with Harvard Votes Challenge! Ever since volunteering in elementary school, I’ve known that I want to spend my life dedicated to public service. Before matriculating to Harvard, I worked as an organizer during the New Hampshire and North Carolina presidential primaries. I quickly learned first-hand that politics is personal, and I saw the power of community-led, grassroots movements. I’m a relentless optimist, and I feel motivated by the prospect of creating an America in which all voices are heard and every elected official advocates for her constituents’ interests. Outside of HVC, I’m a CIVICS teacher for Boston fifth graders, and I write for The Crimson. In my free time, you can find me reading everything from fiction and fantasy to memoirs and political theory or balancing lactose intolerance with a love for ice cream.
