Layla Chaaraoui
My name is Layla Chaaraoui and I am a junior (Class of 2026) from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in Pforzheimer House studying Government, Global Health and Health Policy, and Spanish. I am so excited to serve as one of the Co-Chairs of Citizenship Tutoring this year, a program dedicated to helping Harvard affiliates prepare for and pass their naturalization test by pairing them with Harvard student tutors.
Over the next year, I look forward to expanding the Citizenship Tutoring (Cit Tut) program throughout the Boston area and enhancing our immigration and activism initiatives. As a member of Cit Tut, I have had the opportunity to successfully tutor multiple tutees through their citizenship test preparation while creating connections with Harvard students and affiliates across campus to engage in meaningful discussions on immigration-related issues. I am eager to continue this work with the members of Cit Tut, enhancing the IOP's mission of public service and leadership.
Alongside Citizenship Tutoring, I serve as a Staff Writer for the Harvard Political Review and previously served as the Chair of the Campaigns and Advocacy Program. Outside of the IOP, I am the Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Independent, the Executive Director of Expressions Dance Company, a volunteer with PBHA, and a News Department Head of WHRB. In my free time, I enjoy writing, exploring new cuisines, reading, and catching up on my latest TV show.
