Jack Tueting

Harvard Political Union

My name is Jack Tueting, and I am a sophomore (Class of 2027) from Batesville, Virginia in Adams House studying Government. I am the Chair of the Harvard Political Union, the oldest collegiate debate society in the Western Hemisphere. We are the center for debate on Harvard's campus, bringing students with diverse perspectives from a myriad of backgrounds together to facilitate intellectually rigorous discussion of all things political, shaping the minds of our next generation of leaders.

Over the next year, I am looking forward to expanding the role of the HPU as the premier forum for political discourse on campus. Elsewhere in the IOP, I have also served as a Research Team Lead in the Harvard Public Opinion Project, as Director of University Engagement for the Fellows and Study Groups program, and as a general member of HVC and CAP.

Outside of the IOP, I am President of the Harvard College Democrats, and work as a legislative aide to a Virginia state delegate. In my free time, I addictively follow politics, particularly issues surrounding gerrymandering and voting rights, participate in campaigns, and spend time with my many sheep, cows, chickens, donkeys, ducks, guineafowl, geese, and dogs back on my family's farm in the foothills of Appalachia's Blue Ridge Mountains.
