Dhara Patel
My name is Dhara Patel, and I am a junior (Class of 2027) from Modesto, California, living in Dunster House studying Government & Integrative Biology. This year, I am honored to serve as Communications Director of the IOP. I am excited to amplify student voices, translate civic engagement into compelling storytelling, and build a communications strategy that makes the IOP’s work accessible, vibrant, and impactful for our entire community.
At its core, the IOP is a space that brings together students from all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences, united by a shared commitment to public service and civic engagement. Through intentional storytelling across email newsletters, social media, the IOP website, and print media, I aim to spotlight the achievements, ideas, and aspirations of our community—ensuring that students see themselves reflected in the work we share and the stories we tell. By engaging students and elevating their voices across platforms, I hope to help the IOP continue to serve as an accessible, dynamic hub for leadership, dialogue, and impact.
Previously, I served as Director of Organizing and Special Projects (DOSP), overseeing community outreach and forming strategic partnerships, and held the role of communications director within the Fellows & Study Groups and Campaigns and Advocacy programs. In addition, my involvement in eight IOP programs has informed my approach to inclusive, student-centered communications.
Outside of the IOP, I volunteer with the Phillips Brooks House Association, and staff Harvard Model Congress conferences. In my free time, I can be found going on a hike, running, or rating different matcha cafes!
