Politics of Race and Ethnicity

My name is Amiya, and I'm a sophomore (Class of 2026) from Columbus, Ohio. I live in Lowell House (the BEST house), and I study Social Studies with a secondary in South Asian Studies. I'm a Co-Chair of Politics of Race and Ethnicity (PRE) this year, which is a community that engages with local leaders, politicians, activists, and scholars in conversations about the various intersections between race, identity, politics, and policy. Over the next year, I am really looking forward to increasing PRE membership and engagement, as well as developing new partnerships between PRE and organizations doing important work in the greater Boston area. I was previously a member of Harvard Votes Challenge and really loved engaging with their work during the 2022 midterm elections. Outside the IOP, I am an active board member of Harvard Dharma, serve as the Public Service Chair of the South Asian Association, write for the Independent, and engage in research with the Kennedy School's Program in Criminal Justice Policy and Management and the Harvard Pluralism Project. In my free time, I love to hang out in Lowell House with my blockmates, work out, listen to podcasts, read, and enjoy Cambridge and Boston. I'm so excited to be part of SAC this year!
