An update from the Institute of Politics

Introduction

Dear IOP community,

As you know, the University and Harvard Kennedy School released guidance related to measures taken to keep our community safe during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.  Our top priority is the well-being of our students, staff, Fellows, and IOP community.

The short-term future of our programming will look different, but we -- both students and staff -- are committed to keeping the IOP community strong no matter where you are. With that in mind, we wanted to take a moment to address how these new policies, as they stand today, impact our IOP programming and activities.

  • Forums and Study Groups: In alignment with the University’s policy on events and gathering, all events in the JFK Jr. Forum and Study Groups with Resident Fellows are postponed as we explore future virtual engagement options.
  • Summer Internships: We recognize the urgency for clarity regarding Director’s Internships, Hometown Internships, and Summer Stipends. We are working in collaboration with our colleagues at the College and across the university to evaluate next steps and will be in touch in the coming days.

For any additional programming questions, please contact IOP staff or student program chairs.

Please remember to take care of yourselves and one another by following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control. As the university continues to evaluate the situation, we will be in touch with resources, clarifications, and support.

Best,
Mark
