Students from Harvard, the University of Chicago and Georgetown will travel together to Jakarta, Indonesia for a cross-cultural exploration led by the UK-based international leadership organization Common Purpose. Students from these three institutions will participate in an immersive experience, featuring active collaboration with students from BINUS University in Jakarta. They will meet with a wide array of stakeholders from the government, non-profit and private sectors and work together to address the challenge of how global cities can best respond to the pressures of growth, inequality and sustainability in the 21st century.
Update: June 14, 2017
We are happy to report that Amy Howell, IOP Executive Director, and our students have made it safely to Jakarta! They kicked off the week by exploring their leadership skills and cultural intelligence. At Jakarta City Hall, students examined the challenges that smart cities face in regards to water management, transportation and overall inclusivity.
IOP students also had a chance to visit the Istiqlal Mosque, the third largest in the world!
