We love reconnecting with our IOP alumni! We turned the spotlight on our former students to find out where they are now and their advice for current students. Want to share your alumni story with us? Email our alumni coordinator.

Arvind Krishnamurthy

What advice would you share with current IOP students?

Do not let your sense of what is normal and what is aspirational be dragged down by the sad reality of politics in Washington today. Do not take our system of constitutional government for granted; the words on paper can't be changed easily but they require constant reinforcement from the norms we as citizens and political leaders practice.

What do you remember as your favorite or most interesting IOP experience?

Engaging-and watching other curious, thoughtful individuals engage-with public officials and understanding how they approached the world and the decisions they face.

What was your first job out of college?

Investment banking

What is the best part of your current job?

Learning about new industries/markets when looking at a new investment opportunity

What was happening at the Institute when Arvind was a student? Here are a couple flashbacks:

Senator John Kerry with His Holiness the Dalai Lama on September 10, 1995. Watch here.

Senator Bob Dole and students on April 15, 1997

Avery Gardiner '97, Bill Abely '98, Riad Abrahams '99, and Hillary Clinton on October 4, 1996.
