Born This Way Foundation
Born This Way Foundation is committed to supporting the wellness of young people and empowering them to create a kinder and braver world. To achieve these goals, Born This Way Foundation leverages rigorous academic research and authentic partnerships in order to provide young people with kinder communities, improved mental health resources, and more positive environments – online and offline.
Led by Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta, Born This Way Foundation was founded in 2012 with the goal of creating a kinder and braver world. Young people are key to that mission and that’s why we work to provide youth with genuine opportunities, quality resources, and platforms to make their voices heard.
We launch programs tailored to and powered by young people, putting their ideas, voices, and needs first.
We engage young people online and in their communities, working with a diverse group of partners to connect youth with the services they need to thrive and drive change.
We work with leading researchers to improve understanding of the factors that affect youth wellness and empowerment.
Today’s young people are a passionate, collaborative, and diverse generation. Born This Way Foundation believes that they are our most promising problem solvers and effective change makers. With support for their creativity and boundless potential, young people stand ready to strengthen our communities and build a kinder and braver world for all.
2018 Intern Reflection
I am working as a social media/creative intern for Born This Way Foundation. My summer so far has consisted of a variety of projects, ranging from creating a spreadsheet of college newspapers to reach out to in order to promote our Channel Kindness blog, writing research reports on mental health treatment practices, compiling a list of stats from the Human Rights Campaign's LGBTQ+ Youth Report, and working on drafting social media content for Channel Kindness. What makes this internship truly special is the people; I come into the NYC office three days a week and work with three of the eight total team members, and they are wonderful! They are so kind and willing to help/answer questions, and they go out of their way to make me feel like a part of the team.

2017 Intern Reflection
My time with the Born This Way Foundation has been as uplifting, inspiring, and insightful. Thus far, I have been working for the Foundation for a little over a month, and I can say that I am valued member of the team whose opinions and suggestions make an impact. My daily tasks include editing thought pieces submitted by young people across the country and contributing to long-term projects with the goal of promoting mental health in specific societal spaces. While the Born This Way Foundation only shares a virtual office, the team is quite small and prioritizes efficient communication and time-management above all. I'm super excited for this internship!
